NIA Skill Foundation is the Skill Development Division of the Nachimuthu Industrial Association (NIA), a not-for-profit organization established in 1956 with the objective of promoting industrial growth, technical education, entrepreneurship and community development.
Established in 2018, the Foundation serves as the dedicated skill development vertical of the Association, implementing Government-sponsored and industry-led skill development initiatives. All Government skill development projects are undertaken under the legal entity of Nachimuthu Industrial Association, while NIA Skill Foundation functions as its specialized division for planning, implementation, training delivery, assessment coordination, placement facilitation and project management.
The Foundation works closely with Central and State Government departments, Sector Skill Councils, industries, educational institutions and corporate partners to provide high quality, industry-relevant training that enhances employability and supports sustainable livelihoods.
Operating from the Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) Campus, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, NIA Skill Foundation utilizes state-of-the-art training infrastructure, including 20 Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and modern laboratories, to deliver practical, technology-driven skill development programmes.
With a commitment to excellence, innovation and outcome-based training, NIA Skill Foundation continues to empower youth through skilling, upskilling, reskilling, certification and placement support, contributing to the national vision of building a skilled and future-ready workforce.
Founded by Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam, inspired by his father Thiru. P. Nachimuthu Gounder's transportation venture that became ABT Limited.

To ensure a safe, disciplined and productive learning environment, all trainees are required to comply with the following.
Training hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. A minimum of 80% attendance is mandatory for successful course completion. All trainees must wear formal attire during training hours.
Trainees are responsible for maintaining hostel property; damage to doors, windows, furniture or fittings attracts individual or collective penalties. Rooms and common areas must be kept clean, with waste disposed of only in designated bins.
Hostel accommodation is on a shared dormitory basis; room changes need prior approval. Trainees must bring their own bedsheets and personal essentials — the Foundation is not responsible for loss, theft or damage of personal belongings.
Meals must be taken only during designated dining hours. Visitors are permitted only in the reception area — entry into hostel rooms is strictly prohibited.
Ragging, alcohol, smoking, tobacco, pan masala, narcotics, gambling and spitting are strictly prohibited; violations may lead to expulsion and legal action. The Foundation is not responsible for unlawful acts committed by trainees.
